The Expo Turismo is the biggest event of the year in the Panamanian tourism industry where companies dedicated to the service of travel, lodging, entertainment, and catering come together to offer their product portfolio, make new launches and connect with their peers.
The most recent edition of the trade show took place at the ATLAPA Convention Center on May 24 and 25. This year the event closed with positive numbers, with a contribution of 205 international wholesale buyers, with a record of 1,500 appointments in the Business Center of Expo Tourism and an attendance of 5 thousand visitors interested in the tourist offer of this Central American country.
In an article of Panama America which quotes Mr. José Rodolfo de la Guardia - president of the organizing committee - it was crucial to bring buyers from the United States, Europe, and China to the trade show, for giving local businesses the opportunity to network with wholesalers and tour operators interested in the Latin American tourism offer.

The Fund of International Tourism Promotion is an endowment that has the goal of financing the communication efforts and strategies of Panama for being marketed as a tourist destination internationally. The Fund annually receives 20,000,000 dollars to improve tourism activity.
Although the Law took effect last year, only 8 million dollars were granted to the fund from August to December 2018. However, on the first day of the 2019 Tourism Expo, the administrator of the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP by its acronym in Spanish), Gustavo Him, delivered the first 5 million dollars of the year.
At the ceremony that took place in the ATP stand Liriola Pitti - the fund's executive director - expressed that the investment will allow the development of international marketing strategies that will increase the number of visitors, the time of stay, and tourist spending - of course, with the support of the private and public sector to achieve it.

In Aventuras 2000 we were one of the 120 national and international companies that met at the Expo Turismo Internacional 2019, where the first day was exclusively for exhibitions and business meetings (buyers only) and the second day was open to the general public, receiving locals and foreigners interested in knowing the best of Panama's internal tourism.
We took the opportunity to announce our Gatún Day Pass, an amazing tour for you to immerse yourself inside the beauty and stories hidden in the Colon Province.
You can visit one of Colon most emblematic hotels, the Meliá Hotel Panama Canal, where you will have a historical tour of the property and enjoy its excellent amenities such as its refreshing swimming pool and kayaking at Gatun Lake (subject to availability).
Then, you will also take an ecological and cultural tour through the Gatun Lake searching for the exotic flora and fauna of the tropical wooded area such as birds, monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, and alligators, among others.
And you will visit an authentic Emberá indigenous community. Your people will welcome you with open arms, ready to tell you about their history, language, and culture. Observe their dances, homes, and ways of life, and you can acquire their original crafts or get a temporary tattoo.
